WhatsApp order notifications, sent the moment it matters.

Every order event in your store — placed, processing, completed, cancelled, failed — reaches the customer on WhatsApp, from your own Meta Cloud API or Twilio number. No app for them to install. No ticket for you to answer.

Core features

What ships in the box

The plugin hooks straight into WooCommerce order events. Nothing to wire up in the theme, nothing for the customer to install.

Automated order notifications

An instant WhatsApp message when an order is placed and on every status change — Processing, Completed, On Hold, Cancelled, Failed.

Admin WhatsApp alerts

Route New Order, Cancelled and Failed alerts to a store number with their own templates, so nobody has to sit refreshing the orders screen.

Manual send from the order screen

Open any order in WooCommerce → Orders and pick Send WhatsApp Notification from Order Actions to notify the customer on demand.

Two gateways, one settings tab

Pick Meta Cloud API or Twilio from the Active Gateway dropdown, save the credentials, and the plugin routes every message through it.

Test gateway connection

Before going live, send a test message to any number with the country code and your own test body — it verifies the active gateway’s credentials in place.

Message logs & audit trail

Every send is recorded with gateway, recipient, type, body, status and error detail — plus a one-click resend for anything that failed.

Detailed order summaries

Item breakdown, subtotal, shipping method, VAT/GST, custom fees, applied coupons and a shipping-to-billing address fallback — all inside the message.

Multilingual ready

Templates translate through WPML, Loco Translate and WooCommerce Multilingual, so each customer gets their update in their own language.

Built for current WooCommerce

Runs on High-Performance Order Storage and legacy post storage alike, and the opt-in field renders in Classic Checkout and the Checkout Block.

How it works

Order event to delivered message

Three steps, all of them automatic once the gateway credentials are saved.

STEP 01

The order event fires

A customer checks out, or you move an order to a new status in WooCommerce. The plugin listens on the native order hooks — HPOS and legacy post storage both supported.

STEP 02

The template resolves

Placeholders {{1}} – {{4}} are swapped for live order data, the summary block is composed, and on completion a PDF invoice link is attached.

STEP 03

The message delivers

It goes out over Meta Cloud API or Twilio. Meta’s webhook then syncs the real delivery state — Delivered, Read or Failed — back into Message Logs.

Gateways

Send from your own WhatsApp number

Pick whichever fits your region, volume and budget. Both are configured from the same settings screen, and both can be verified before you go live.

Meta Cloud API compared with Twilio across connection, credentials, delivery state, error reporting, test environment and templates.
Capability Meta Cloud APIDirect Twilio
Connection No third-party relay in the path Messaging API relay
Credentials Access Token, Phone Number ID, WhatsApp Business Account ID, App ID Account SID, Auth Token, Twilio Mobile No. and Message Service ID
Delivery state Webhook syncs Delivered / Read / Failed in real time Send status recorded at dispatch
Error reporting Meta error codes surfaced verbatim in Message Logs Twilio error codes surfaced in Message Logs
Test environment Test Gateway Connection Live / Test environment switch, with a Twilio Sandbox Code
Templates Edited in the plugin’s Templates tab Order Content SID and Order Status Content SID

Proven before launch

Whichever you pick, Test Gateway Connection sends a message of your choosing to a number of your choosing, so the credentials are proven before a single customer is involved.

Switch without rework

Both gateways read the same templates and write to the same Message Logs, so moving between them is a dropdown change — not a re-implementation.

On WhatsApp

Exactly what lands on your customer’s phone

Real message bodies, rendered from the plugin’s default templates. WhatsApp bold markup ( *text* ) is respected, so order numbers and totals stay scannable in the chat.

Status updates

Fired on every status transition, with the previous and new status spelled out so support never has to explain it twice.

COD verification

The order is held On Hold until the customer verifies. Pick 1-click link or a 4-digit code as the method — the code is entered on the Thank You page, not replied in chat.

Recovery & reviews

Abandoned carts come back with a one-tap restore link. Review requests go out a configurable number of days after completion.

These are incoming messages in the customer’s own WhatsApp, so they carry no delivery ticks — ticks only ever appear on what the customer sends. The real delivery state lives in Message Logs instead.

Message templates

Editable text, live order data

These are the plugin’s shipped defaults. Rewrite any of them in the settings screen — the placeholders are the only part that has to stay.

Advanced features

Five modules under one tab

Everything below lives under Webkul WC Addons → WhatsApp Order Notification → Advanced Features. Each module is independent — switch on only what your store needs.

COD verification & anti-fraud

Turn on Enable COD Verification, pick the Verification Method — 1-click WhatsApp link or a 4-digit code entered on the Thank You page — and set Auto-Cancel Unverified Orders (Hours), which defaults to 24.

Abandoned cart recovery

Checkout phone numbers are captured in real time. After your Abandonment Delay (Minutes), a reminder goes out with a direct cart-restoration link. A dedicated Abandoned Carts table lists every captured cart, its items, total and recovery status.

Post-purchase review requests

Schedule a review ask N days after an order completes, with its own template. Turns a delivery into a rating without anyone remembering to chase it.

Customer opt-in (GDPR)

A customisable consent checkbox at checkout, working on both Classic Checkout and the Gutenberg Checkout Block via wkwpon/checkout-optin.

Rich media PDF invoices

On order completion the plugin generates a PDF invoice and attaches the download link to the WhatsApp message. No email round-trip.

Message logs

Every send, accounted for

A dedicated view under WhatsApp Order Notification → Message Logs, with search and filters by gateway, message type and status — and a resend on anything that did not land.

FAQ

Before you install

The questions that come up most often when a store is deciding how order updates should reach its customers.

Does the customer need to install anything?

No. The message arrives in WhatsApp on the number they already gave you at checkout, in the app they already have. There is nothing to download, no account to create and no portal to log into.

Which gateway should I choose?

Both are configured from the same settings tab, so the choice is not permanent. Meta Cloud API connects directly with no relay in the path, and its webhook syncs Delivered, Read and Failed back into Message Logs in real time. Twilio adds sandbox and live environments you can switch between without re-configuring, plus Order Content SID fields for approved Twilio templates.

What happens when a message fails to send?

The attempt is still recorded in Message Logs with the gateway’s own error code and detail spelled out. Every row carries a Resend action, so you can retry it once the cause is fixed without touching the order.

Will it work with HPOS and the Checkout Block?

Yes. The plugin listens on the native order hooks and runs on High-Performance Order Storage and legacy post storage alike, and the opt-in field renders in Classic Checkout and in the Gutenberg Cart & Checkout Blocks.

Can I rewrite the message wording?

Every template is editable in the Templates tab. The only part that has to stay is the placeholder syntax — {{1}} for the customer name, {{2}} for the order ID, {{3}} for the order summary or previous status, and {{4}} for the new status. Templates also translate through WPML, Loco Translate and WooCommerce Multilingual.

How is customer consent handled?

The Advanced Features tab adds a customisable consent checkbox at checkout, with a label you write yourself. It renders on both Classic Checkout and the Gutenberg Checkout Block, so the opt-in is captured with the order rather than assumed.
